Given these cross-cultural differences, it would
be valuable to explore the potential positive
and/or negative effects these extended postpartum
practices may have on the physical and
mental health of mothers. Furthermore, considering
increasing rates of migration between
countries and the resulting cultural diversity
among childbearing women in many healthcare
settings, it is essential to understand traditional
postpartum practices and the ways in which
they may influence the provision of perinatal
healthcare.
