Yangon International Airport is the second biggest airport in Myanmar, after Mandalay Airport. It is located in Mingaladon, which is around 15km north of downtown Yangon. Originally built in 1947, the airport is owned by Government of the Union of Republic of Myanmar and is operated by the Pioneer Aerodrome Services on a lease.
The airport, which handled around 2.5 million passengers in 2011, has a single asphalt-surfaced runway (03/21) of 3,314m in length.
