This project is based on the software and data provided by the CLEA project. The effects of
absorption and re-emission by individual atoms were analyzed and how a photon’s energy
affects the rete of absorption by hydrogen gas was investigated. The effects of diffusion
and its dependence on the number of layers of gas in the star are also studied. Results from
the analysis of absorption and emission lines in the Sun’s spectra are produced and transit
time for photons that were produced at the center of the Sun to its surface were studied.
The future work includes further investigation on the time taken for a photon to travel out
Of the Sun.
