Someone To Care For by Maria Goodin is a short story about a young mother and her career-oriented girlfriend. The narrating voice in the story, the mother, is totally in love with her baby, while her friend Nathalie doesn't like kids and fails to see why someone would want one.
The story is narrated almost as a dialogue between mother and son, as if the mother were telling her child about Nathalie's visits. Nathalie is very career-oriented and only cares about her job, while the protagonist is happy as a stay-at-home mum taking care of her baby. Or is she taking care of her husband?
