Planting and Spacing
Sweet corn seeds need soil temperatures of about 65 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer to germinate. Cooler soil temperatures keep the seed from sprouting. The recommended depth for planting the seed is about 1 inch. Space the seeds at least 6 to 7 inches apart. Sweet corn does better in a block-type planting style instead of long rows. Pollination is poor when there is a single row of corn. Plant at least three rows spaced about 36 inches apart.
