In order to improve the efficiency of interspecific hybridization in Capsicum spp. a better understanding of the nature of interspecific barriers at different stages is needed. This information will aid in selecting the suitable parental line of hot pepperand manipulating the effective techniques to solve this problem.Based on the hypothesis that interspecific incompatibility between hot pepper species exist at all steps starting from pre-pollinationuntil post-fertilization, this experiment was conducted to study theinter-specific barriers of the crosses between C. chinense Jacq. andC. baccatum L. during pre-pollination, pre-fertilization as well aspost-fertilization during embryo development stages.
