Both of us love to collect coins in every country we visit, and compete to see who has the most different ones at the end of the trip. Of course, after the trip is over we share, and start to study the coins on the internet. Having lived in Thailand, on and off, for over ten years, I was starting to take the Thai coins for granted, and hardly noticed them anymore. They came in many different colors, sizes and designs. On the obverse side of every coin was an image of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The reverse side of the coins had images of famous Thai temples, for the most part, except some special coins that were designed to commemorate special events and celebrations.
Did you know all of the temples pictured on Thai Baht coins are in Bangkok?
Yup, it’s one of those small but little known pieces of Thai trivia.
All the temples stamped on the back of Thai baht coins are in Bangkok and it’s possible to see them all in one day.
