5. Conclusions
The high prevalence of Salmonella contamination in retail
aquatic food products in China indicates that these foods could be a
source of infectious exposure for consumers. Furthermore, the
presence of Salmonella strains exhibiting multidrug-resistance and
multiple virulence genes highlights the health risks for consumers.
These findings may lead to a greater understanding of prevalence,
antimicrobial resistance, strain types, and virulence ofSalmonella in
aquatic food products, and provide support for the development of
new approaches to control Salmonella infection
