Our study is retrospective, and subject
to several limitations. Our findings do
not infer causality, but only show associations.
The rate of gestational hypertension
in our cohort was lower than
expected (2.9% in the HR-HPV group
and 3.5% in the unexposed group, P ¼
.75). This may represent another limitation
of retrospective studies. We also
evaluated the rate of new onset hypertension
(preeclampsia and gestational
hypertension) and found that the risk of
new onset pregnancy induced hypertension
remains elevated in the HR-HPV
group compared with the unexposed
group (OR, 1.63; 95% CI, 1.06e2.51;
P ¼ .02)
