Ostriches are special kind of bird. They are the largest birds in the world. They cannot fly. They live in Africa. They have strong legs that help them run very fast, sometimes 40 miles per hour. When an enemy comes near, they will fight by kicking with their very long legs. Ostriches have a very long neck. Male ostriches may be eight feet tall and weigh 300 pounds. Several female ostriches lay eggs in the same place. One egg is enough to make an omelet for twelve people.
