The worst disservice you can do as a coach teacher, parent , or leader is to say to follower, “I don’t think you are capable of doing very much—so I’m going to lower the standard or just lower standards without saying anything. Holtz says there are two kings of leaders: those who are opitimists and lift others up to higher levels of performance, and those who pull everybody down. If we are in a leadership role, we shouldn’t worry about being popular; work at raising the self-image and productivity of our followers.
