3. Results and discussion
3.1. FW hydrolysis
Mixed FW collected from a cafeteria at Nanyang Technological
University was hydrolyzed with fungal mash produced from waste
cakes. A glucose concentration of 119 g/L was achieved after 12 h
hydrolysis, and it further increased to 127 g/L after 24 h (Fig. 1).
In fact, the concentration of glucose derived from FW largely
depends on the hydrolysis efficiency and the carbohydrate content
of FW.
