Students must adapt to
changing, complex conditions
that combine scientific and
social factors with uncertain
endpoints. They develop complex
communication and social
skills as they work as a team to
develop an environmental action
plan and convince others
that this plan is worthwhile and important. Because students
must apply scientific and social knowledge in new circumstances,
they learn to develop nonroutine problem-solving
skills. In working toward a goal that is important to them,
they learn self-management and self-development.
