Our results illustrated that linoleic acid content slightly increased whereas lipoxygenase (LOX) activity was declined from DG to GY stage (Figure 1A and 1B). Howerver, linoleic acid content decreased when petal color tumed to yellow which had the highest LOX activities. The LOX activity in harvested yellow flower stage also continuously increased to the peak two hours before flower fragrance whereas the light green flower stage showed low LOX activity after harvested (Figure 2). Thus, we can conclude that linoleic acid was degraded by LOX and further changed to alcohols and acids as a substrate for the biosynthesis of esters in Kradang Nga Chin flower according to the pathway in figure 3.
