Being part of a child’s development is more than just watching them grow. As an au pair you are playing an active role and you will have a direct impact on your child’s learning and development process. Think about all the time you will spend with your host children. Working with a child for up to 45 hours a week you might be interacting with your host children more than their parents do. This is a special responsibility.
Your host family expects you to come to the USA prepared and full of ideas. They expect you to be creative and to be involved in your host child’s growth process. This is all part of being an au pair. Encourage your host children each day; learn with them, it will be exciting to rediscover the world through their eyes. This is also a unique opportunity to strengthen the bond with your host children.
We will spend time at the training school looking at age appropriate activities. You will learn more about the best way to choose learning games and safe activities for your host children no matter how old they are. For now, you cal also take a look at our Kids Corner for more of these tips.
