V. CONCLUSIONS
In this paper we presented an approach to benchmark the
support that a set of database software packages provide for
implementing security practices. A database software
package is defined as the combination of operating system
and database management system engine. The benchmark
evaluates the whole software package in terms of what are
the security mechanisms which are present in the package,
providing two outcomes: a Security Mechanisms
Compliance metric that portrays the level of compliance of
the package in regard to the expected security mechanisms
and a gap analysis that facilitates the comparison of several
distinct packages in terms of the presence (or not) of security
mechanisms.
