Triphenyl Phosphate Plasticizer—a solid—is the most commonly used flame retardant
for Cellulose Acetate. In Cellulose Acetate films, Triphenyl Phosphate imparts flame resistance, good clarity, excellent water resistance, good flexibility and toughness with no tendency toward tackiness. The Celluloid Corporation made the first serious commercial attempt to market ‘non-flammable safety film’ made of cellulose acetate using triphenyl phosphate as additive (Tsang et al. 2009). Until now no attempt to synthesise and investigation of mixed cellulose acylates phosphonates has been made.
