Potassium concentrations in the salt treatment (S) were
greatly reduced in both shoot and root tissues of both cultivars
compared with the treatments without salt (Table 6). Shoot and
root potassium concentrations for the treatments with salt and
Si were significantly higher (p < 0.01) than those for the treatments
with salt without Si (Table 6). Shoot and root potassium
concentrations were increased when Si was added to the salinity
treatments (S + Si1/2) and values were similar to control values
in most cases. There were cultivar differences; Izmir-85 had
higher K than Gediz-75 in all treatments.
