The leaching concentration of each sample was compared with
leaching limit values of the European Council Decision 2003/33/EC
(supplementary material Table S7) establishing criteria and
procedure for the acceptance of waste at landfill [53]. The result
(Table 4) concludes that out of 95 samples, 21 samples has to be
landfilled at “surface landfill for hazardous waste”. Nine samples
were neither suitable for hazardous nor non-hazardous landfill category
(Table 4). Out of these 9 samples, the concentration of Zn in 6
samples leachate was higher than the limits. In IS all the three samples
require further treatment because of the high Hg concentration
in leachate. One FGD sample of PbM exceeded the limit values of
Pb, Sb, Cd and Zn.
