Although the adaptation of the SLM is seen to be valid in
explaining recipient reaction to the gift and intention to give
in return, it is no less true that this theoretical representation
overlooks certain aspects of the gift-giving process that
might prove to be of interest for future research. It would
therefore be recommendable to explore the effect of gifts in
relational ties and whether strengthening the relationship is
the ultimate goal of the gift as Larsen and Watson (2001)
and Davies et al. (2010) stated. In this line, as the role of
