INCITING INCIDENT
The inciting incident of the novel is the first trial of Charles Darnay, who was accused of treason through passing English Secrets into French hands. However, Darnay was acquitted, thanks to Sydney Carton. During Darnay’s cross-examination, Carton passed a note to Mr.Stryver (Sydney’s partner) that had arguments in Darnay’s favour. Once the contents of the note was argued the resemblance of the two characters were noted.
