Good night Yuva.
I think Meaw is trying to be nice. Brooke calls my cooking ordinary. No real flavor. She is
right in her opinion, but she tends to forget how I learned how to cook. I watched my mother
and three sisters cook all the time. So most of what I learned, I learned from observation. The
particular style would be hard to say. I think most of it based on a very poor period of time in
the US. Mostly based on the Great Depression of 1932. My mothers parents were fortunate in
that they had a farm. So feeding the family was easier than for most. But it also put every child
out in the fields. Cooking was simple and created to avoid excesses. Mostly salt and pepper for
spicing. They were both plentiful and cheap. Mostly everything else was too expensive. The
meals I have prepared for Craig and Meaw are all based that time period. Very easy, although
very messy to prepare. Between Brooke, Craig and Meaw, they have come up with other items
they think I should prepare. Of all of the meals I have prepared and those still to be prepared,
only the those made with chicken and ham would seem to work for you. All the rest have beef
in them. So I do not think we would me having me do a lot of cooking for you. Only when you
feel the need to have something that I would call bland. But when you are here visiting your
grandchild, I will be happy to prepare something for all of us. I'll just have to find the leaf for
the table to make sure we can fit everything on the table!
The only new news today has to do with animal rights activists. It would appear the minority of
people in the Northeast areas of Thailand eat dog meat. And that particular element seems to now
be under attack. The government is looking at ways to stop the practice. Right, wrong or some
where in the middle, Some of these people have been doing this for generations. I am not so
sure it can be stopped quickly. The government should try to find ways to stop the practice, but they
will not stop it as long as people are poor and hungry. A hungry person will do whatever they
need to do to feed their family. So while I do not approve of eating dog meat, I do understand it.
Pleasant dreams and sleep well. I think about you always.
Hugs & Kisses.
