SEM and HR-TEM spectra of magnetic nano-sorbents
The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high resolution
transmission electron microscopic (HR-TEM) imaging of nano-
Fe3O4, functionalized nano-Fe3O4-DOP and nano-Fe3O4-DOP-TETA
sorbents were also acquired to identify the particle shape and
homogeneity as well as to determine the particle size range of each
sorbent. In the case of nano-Fe3O4 sorbent, the particles were
identified in the range of 5.0–12.0 nm as shown in Fig. 3a and d. The
shape and color of nano-Fe3O4-DOP sorbent is quite different from
that of nano-Fe3O4 due to the possible loading of DOP on the surface
of nano-Fe3O4. The identified average particle size in the case of nano
Fe3O4-DOP was found as 3.0–9.0 nm as represented in Fig. 3b and e.
The HR-TEM image of Fe3O4-DOP-TETA is completely different in
shape from those of nano-Fe3O4 and nano-Fe3O4-DOP as shown inMetal sorption and up-take properties of magnetic nano-sorbents
