A fisherman has caught a British soldier's last message to his wife 85 years after it was thrown into the sea in a bottle.
Private Thomas Hughes wrote the message to his wife on the way to World War I trenches in France. Twelve days later, he was dead.
After netting the old bottle, fisherman Steve Gowan told Thursday's Sun tabloid: "It looked very old, and when I wiped the grit and dirt off, I could see what appeared to be a note inside it.
