Project Guidelines
The robot will be required to:
o Travel around the track in the forward direction as shown in Figure 1: Spring 2013
Proposed Race Track.
o The robot will start at the start line. The robot will travel in the forward direction to the
pickup color define box to determine the location of the object to be picked up. The
robot will then advance to the appropriate box to get the object. The robot will then
travel around the course in the reverse direction for the first half and the forward
direction for the second half to the drop off color define box to determine the drop off
color location. The robot will then advance to the appropriate box to drop off the
object. After the object is dropped off in the appropriate box, the robot will return to
the start line and stop. Object is shown in Figure 2: Spring 2013 Object, and it can weigh
between 33 and 37 grams.
o The robot will need to stop when it gets to the start line after completing the final task.
o For the race, 90% of the robot must be behind the start line.
o The course will be run twice with different colors at the pickup and drop off locations for
each run. Timing will start when the robot moves and will stop when it comes to a
complete stop after the last task is completed. Team time will be determined by
averaging the two runs.
o Robot program code should be able to decode the 3 colors noted. No code changes
between runs will be allowed.
o If an object is on the track in front of the robot, it should stop until the object is no
longer in the robot’s path. The stopping is not required after the object is picked up. This
task will be tested separate from the timed races.
