According to legends, Hon Chen is the place where The Holy Mother “Y A Na” appears to save humanity. Hon Chen which is known as Ngon Tran is a low mountain; it starts from “Truong Son” range to the brink of Huong river where the peak of Ngoc Tran mountain is located. The ancient people chose Ngoc Tran mountain to build a temple. There is a large hole at the top of the “Ngoc Tran mountain, when the sky rains, it makes the hole looking like a huge bowl. This is also the reason why villagers call Ngoc Tran mountain as Hon Chen mountain

Nobody knows when Hon Chen temple built but the ancient Cham people worshiped here a long time ago. On these days, the procession is held on boats which are composite together are decorated beautiful. The ceremony is really solemn and people who attend wear colorful costumes. The orchestra sings many “chau van” songs to praise merits of the Holy Mother “Y A Na”. The devotees walk around, sing and dance in colorful costumes. All of them create a sacred atmosphere.
Boats on Huong river
Nowadays, Hon Chen temple is known not only as a religious relic but also as a beautiful landscape of Hue city. On the main day of the festival, there are more than hundreds of boats on Huong river gather to attend this festival and it gradually becomes a folk activity which is special of Hue.
