1. Remove the tool if one is attached to the spindle head.
2. Color all around the spindle, except for the section of approximately 10 mm,
with a black marker. (or paint white the outer chamfered part of the drive key on one side.)
3. Move the spindle head to the measurement position.
(Pay attention to the stroke center for the X and Y axes, and workability for the Z axis.)
4. Turn on the power of the balance monitor. Adjust the position of the speed sensor on the
balance gauge so that it only reacts to the section (No.2) not colored by the black marker.
5. Attach the pick-up-sensor 1 and 2 on the spindle head in surroundings to show VB1 and
VB2 in the figure.
6. Press [MODE] on the balance monitor to select [2PL].
7. Rotate the spindle of for the type 16K specifications: 16000min-1 and the type 22K
specifications: 22000min-1. Press [START].
The vibration angle and the vibration amplitude are displayed on the upper line and the
lower line of balance monitors 1 and 2, respectively, for three seconds during measurement.
(The displayed values disappear after three seconds, thus take note of what they are.)
8. If the vibration amplitude displayed on balance monitors 1 and 2 is 1µm or less, balancing
is not necessary. If it exceeds 1µm, perform single face balancing.
Do one face balance adjustment each of the upper sides (spindle coupling) and the bottom sides
(the end face of the spindle).
1. Remove the cover beside the spindle head.
2. Remove all adjusting weights from the coupling and the spindle.
3. Attach pick-up 1 to where the indicated area (VB1) in the figure on the left side
of the spindle head.
a. Upper balancing
Initial imbalance measurement (INT)
Turn on the power of the balance monitor and measure the initial imbalance.
(You do not have to change the mode to [2PL].)
Rotate the spindle at maximum rotation speed and press [START].
The vibration angle and the vibration amplitude are displayed on the upper line and the
lower line of balance monitor 1, respectively, for three seconds during measurement.
(The displayed values disappear after three seconds, thus take note of what they are.)
If the vibration amplitude is 0.5 µm or less, proceed to step “e”.
If it exceeds 0.5 µm, proceed to step “b”
b. Load imbalance measurement (TEST1)
Attach the testing weight to the coupling. (The testing weight should be 1.88 g.
Mark the position the testing weight is attached.)
Rotate the spindle at maximum rotation speed and press [START].
After measurement has been completed, [TEST1] flashes. Enter the weight of the
attached testing weight, then press [ENT].
In the case that [TEST1] does not flash and the weight of the attached testing weight
cannot be input, increase the weight of the testing weight and measure again.
Remove the testing weight after measurement.
c. Attach the balance adjusting weights.
Press [DIVIDED] on the balance monitor. Select [6P] by pressing [PAGE UP] and
[PAGE DOWN], and press [ENT].
When [POL/DIV] is pressed, the positions the weights are attached (#1 ~ 6) and the weight
of the weights are displayed in the upper line and the lower line of balance monitors 1 and
2, respectively ([DIV] lights). Position 1 is followed by positions 2 to 6, clockwise when
viewed from the top.
The testing weight is attached at position 1, and the adjusting weights are attached at the
specified positions 2 to 6.
