Heavier brass screen (ordered from hardware stores) is preferable to window screening. Cut the screen so that it will extend up the sides of the box at least 1 inch (Fig. 10-1, C and D). Tack the screen in place and then add metal or wood cleats. Pieces of heavy gauge galvanized iron bent and nailed in place, as show in Fig. 10-1 C, are preferable, but wooden cleats, applied as shown in Fig. 10-1 D will do quite well. Nail on two short picces of wood for handles at either end of the screen (Fig.10-1 A). If all wood surfaces are painted before and after construction, the screen will last for many years. A screen must always be washed thoroughly in fresh water and dried following collecting trips.
