The publication of the Dymaxion House made Fuller suddenly famous on American architectural scene. Its name came from the mixture of words: Dy(namic) and Max(imum)ion. Its appearance completely broke away from the language of the Modern architecture and the International Style. Fuller wrote “The dwelling after all, should be a machine for efficient and comfortable conduct of family life under shelter. Whatever will contribute most effectively and economically to that end merits our consideration; whatever does not so contribute, though it be hollowed by centuries of tradition, need not concern us.” Its feature is light-construction developed from the Lightful House 4D.
