Children’s Day is a favourite tradition in Brunstad Christian Church Melbourne—a day full of fun activities and extra special Sunday school for the kids.
On Saturday, May 4th, cars began to arrive early and many excited children filled the church meeting hall in Wollert. What else could bring on this excitement, other than anticipation for the day ahead? Children's Day at Wollert is a full day spent together, with fun activities and extra special Sunday school!
The day started with Sunday school in the main hall—where the children sang from the kids’ songbook. In front of the room was a small, strong-looking wooden house. The kids were excited to see what the Bible lesson would be.
When Satan isn’t allowed to have power in our thoughts and hearts, we can have a house that is always standing strong for Jesus!
One of the Sunday school leaders taught about the importance of keeping out the evil thoughts and sin that tries to come into our hearts. “Every time we let something into our thoughts that we know is wrong, or when we are disobedient, for example, our ‘house’ is no longer strong; instead cracks and holes begin to appear in it,” the young man explained with enthusiasm. When Satan isn’t allowed to have power in our thoughts and hearts, we can have a house that is always standing strong for Jesus!
At the afternoon games there were exciting relays, egg-and-spoon-races, doughnut-eating races, and, of course, a ‘lolly-man’. There were children everywhere with big smiles on their faces and fistfuls of sweets!
To end the day, everyone sat together at ‘Mawarra’, the campfire place. Yummy hot chocolate was served and marshmallows were roasted as the kids and leaders sang their favourite songs.
