All in all, we evaluate the Second International Research Colloquium in D/MT as a success. It
brought together researchers from all over the world, stimulated new theoretical, methodological
and empirical ideas, and fostered networking in the field. Many studies contributed valuable explorations
of new research areas in D/MT. Outcome studies applied D/MT in clinical designs with
encouraging results. However, the colloquium also showed the need to further improve research
designs, including the regular establishment of control groups and randomization. On the other
hand, we need not forget the equal necessities to explore art-based research methods (Meekums,
1993; Hervey, 2004), D/MT’s genuine theory, and method development. Encouraging approaches
were visible during the colloquium. A continuation of the collection of state-of-the art theory and
research in D/MT is planned. We would like to encourage all researchers including researchoriented
graduate students to contact us for further networking.
