Every room and/or suite should be equipped with at least one smoke detector. Check them
periodically to make sure they work. Most smoke detectors can be tested by pressing the
test button. Smoke detectors are either wired electrically operated or battery operated.
Replace batteries whenever a smoke detector chirps to signal that its battery is low or in
the spring and fall when clocks are moved forward or back one hour. The smoke detector
should be replaced on a regular basis in accordance with the manufacturer's
recommendation, but at least once every ten years.
