Water or Liquor Filling of an Empty System
The first step when starting up is to fill empty tanks with water. The procedure is as
follows:
-The filtrate tank needs to be filled approximately 60% before the level
controller can be put into the auto mode.
-The press feed tank is filled to about 50%, depending on the circumstances.
-To fill the pulp tank following the press, the dilution conveyor is started and
its dilution valve is opened in manual mode approximately 40%. When the
pulp tank level is about 30%, the valve is closed and the conveyor can be
stopped.
-The filtrate tank can be filled by opening a valve for makeup water, or by
starting the downstream process and sending water backwards towards the
digester system. Either way, fill the filtrate tank to about 60% and put the
LC in auto mode.
Now the tanks are filled with water. The start up of the process system with the press
can now begin, using water in place of stock.
