We couldn't hear what the man was saying, but my mother looked surprised.
'What's he doing there? Has there been an accident? Did the driver hit someone?' she asked. My mother listened, nodding her head from time to time. At the end of the call she put the phone down and looked at us.
'Your father 's alive,' she told us. 'Thank God , he's alive.'
'Where is he? What's happened?' asked Ibrahim.
'He's at a police station. I don't know what's happened. There's some kind of a problem. He didn't have a car accident. but the police want to ask him questions. I'm going to phone your uncle and ask him to go to the police station now. he can phone us when he knows more,' said my mother.
Two hours later there was another phone call. My mother listened for a long time. She looked very worried .
