On the 8th of October, an employee with 10 years’ of service reported pain in his stomach region after
transferring a 20ltr pail from weighing scales onto a trolley. He attended a local medical center and
was diagnosed with an incisional hernia. He was placed on restricted activities until surgery was able
to be performed. During this time, the restricted activities exceeded 30 days.
Typically, the task involves manually placing pails of paint onto scales to allow for accurate additions
of tinters and binders to meet the customer’s requirements. Over a normal shift, this task can occur
numerous times depending on the number of customers entering the store.
