Thailand is one of the species rich countries. Vidthayanon, 2004 reported approximately 700 species, representing 1.04% of fish in the world and 3.74% of fish in Asia. Recently, biodiversity loss and degradation become important issues, especially in the fast changing/developing areas (Gren et al., 2015). Therefore, information on current diversity and current conservation status are important. To mitigate the biodiversity loss problem, recently, many protected areas with local people engagement have been established and promoted through several media. Different protected areas have different strategies to manage and there is a lack of scientific research related to their effectiveness on biodiversity protection. Therefore, in this study we aim to investigate the species diversity of fish in community-based protected areas that have strong regulation.
