There are still gaps and shared species like Cephalopods that are not managed at all, although fisheries scientists already share their expertise in the assessment of these stocks (Gras et al., 2014). There are new strategies for maritime space planning such as the Directive 2014/89/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 July 2014 establishing a framework for maritime spatial planning. This calls for cooperation between EU member states to ensure „coherent and coordinated across the marine region concerned‟ making clear that this would operate at a large scale.
