The result obtained from the study has shown that the rhizospheric isolate, B. subtilis, was active against 4 test pathogens during in-vitro screening experiment except P. infestans.
The chitinolytic potential of the isolate was responsible for the inhibition of the test pathogens and the probable chitinase has optimum activity at 40oC and at pH 8.0. However, more detailed and specialized studies of field trials, interaction with indigenous soil microorganisms and application methods of the agent, are needed for the effective and secure biocontrol.
