Landless LPS are a subset of the pure livestock systems in
which less than 10% of the dry matter fed to animals is
farm produced and in which annual average stocking rates
are above ten livestock units per hectare of agricultural
land (on average at census unit level). Grassland-based
systems are defined as systems in which more than 10% of
the dry matter fed to animals is farm produced and in
which annual average stocking rates are less than ten
livestock units per hectare of agricultural land.
