In the fields of both forensics and investigation, virtual autopsy
is not a reference procedure before autopsy. However, we demonstrated
its usefulness. The information collected from these exams
can often significantly improve investigations. We strongly advise
the general use of this procedure. In contrast, in medicine, computed
tomography is a reference procedure for the identification
and treatment of non-lethal ballistic wounds, but the data provided
by these investigations are not sufficiently used by investigators.
The purpose of this report was to develop the use of CT for
investigative purposes.
