The group receiving coated butyric acid showed a
strong trend ( p = 0.082), of decreased Salmonella
shedding at the first 3 days after inoculation. At 2 and 3
days pi, faecal shedding was approximately 100 times
lower in the group fed coated butyric acid compared to
the control group. Coated caprylic acid did not
significantly ( p = 0.89) reduce fecal shedding of
Salmonella Typhimurium (Fig. 3)
