In the Condition 6, the organic acids evolution was different of previous assays. After interchanging the sugar supplementation, glucose instead of lactose, it was observed high acetic and lactic acids consumption by the cells; however ethanol concentration remained stable, below 1 g/L. Lactic acid concentration reached 13.44 g/L during the period of time (around 45 h) in which just lactose was into the medium. After that, lactic acid was 96% consumed (0.59 g/L). It is important to note that these acids were consumed at low lactose concentration (Fig. 2b and c). On the other hand, propionic acid varied from 0.6 g/L to 1.74 g/L and acetic acid from 1.24 g/L to 0.72 g/L. As it was observed in test of Condition 6 organic acids, mainly lactic acid, were consumed when there was depletion of sugar.
