While most studies have been conducted on children referred for motor impairments
gross-motor development is rarely an object of investigation in screening activities. The present study offers an evaluation of the relationship between motor ability and other skills to the research in the field of developmental coordination disorder. The study is special in that it was carried out on a sample of children with different degrees of motor ability, although within a non-pathological population. The evaluation of children with borderline motor skills might show
whether the results obtained from referred children are confirmed in the earlier forms of disease, contributing to a more in-depth comprehension of the correlates of gross motor
development.
