Primary growth the length root and shoot
1. Growth plant is made possible by tissue called meristem. A meristem consists of cells that divided frequently, generating additional cells.
2. Some products of this division remain in the meristem and produce still more cells, while other different and are incorporated into tissue and organ of the growing plant.
3. Meristem at the tip of root and in the buds of shoot are called apical meristem.
4. Cell division in the apical meristem produced the news cells that enables a plant to grow in length, a process know as primary growth.
5. Primary growth enable:
A. Roots to push through the soil , and
B. Allows shoot to increase exposure to light and carbon dioxide.
