P'an-ku is spoken of by the common people as "the first man, who opened up heaven and earth." It has been said to me in "pidgin" English that "he is all the same your Adam"; and in Taoist picture books I have seen him as a shaggy, dwarfish, Hercules, developing from a bear rather than an ape, and wielding an immense hammer and chisel with which he is breaking the chaotic rocks
P'an Ku Creator of the Universe
This myth starts out with an egg that contains darkness, chaos and the universe. Also in that egg is P'an Ku. One day he decides to brake out in an effort to restore order. As he brakes out so does Yin and Yang becoming heaven and earth. When P'an Ku tries to stand he could not because he was crushed by heaven and earth. So he pushed against earth and streatched towards the sky. He did this for 18,000 years and grew 10 feet each day.
