Land and water separation was achieved through grey-level
segmentation where pixels with similar grey values in a nearby
region are clustered as the same object. Fig. 4 a shows the grey-level
segmentation and the thresholding of the SAR image, resulting in
a clear delineation of the coastlines in the east coast of Kuala Terengganu
and the islands in the study. Fig. 4b shows the output
vector map derived from the conversion of the raster extracted
coastline based on thresholding processes.
