The pavilion was designed in Australia and was subsequently developed and detailed to satisfy the requirements for typhoon and earthquake as stipulated by JAWE (the Japanese Authority for World Exposition). The framing was analysed on a large computer in Adelaide and wind tunnel testing was done at Melbourne University. Jim and I made the final submission in Osaka and were subject to searching examination by JAWE. We then spent 3 weeks in Tokyo briefing local appointees to proceed with final details, tenders and supervision of contracts. The main contractor was Shimizu Constructions. (continued)
