Fig. 6 illustrates the densities of the coexisting phases over a
wide range of temperatures and pressures of the systems palm
fatty acid distillates + CO2. The results show a smooth increase in
the density of palm fatty acid distillates as the system pressure
increases. This is due to the increasing amount of supercritical
carbon dioxide that dissolves in the liquid phase, as the system pressure increases. This effect predominates over the effect related
to an increase in the liquid density by compression, as the matter
in the liquid state is incompressible.
