B. Adaptive Fuzzy Control of High-Performance
Motion Systems
This work presents a speed and position control system based on fuzzy logic approach, combined with a simple and effective adaptive algorithm. A block diagram of the experimental control system is shown in Fig. 16.The control system is based on a general-purpose microprocessor
(Intel 80486) and a fuzzy logic microcontroller (American Neuralogix NLX 230). The microprocessor implements a Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) scheme in which the control parameters are updated by the fuzzy logic microcontroller. Fuzzy logic approach has been used to compensate for the variations of both load torque and inertia momentum that are subject to change during normal operation of the drive.
