This alkane is produced in free-radical-induced peroxidation of linoleic acid and MDA is the main end product of lipid peroxidation, which can reflect the degree of lipid peroxidation (Gardner, 1989, Pitkanen et al., 1989 and Sumida et al., 1989). In the current study, a decreased plasma MDA concentration was observed in pigs fed the MCTs-rich diet. MCFAs have no unsaturated fatty acids present and therefore they are exceptionally stable to oxidation.
